Diabolus in Cosmetica will be taking an extended break...

It is with regret that I must tell my readers that Diabolus in Cosmetica will be put on hold for a while.

Most of you will have noticed my lack of blog posts over the last month.

Unfortunately I have other commitments at the moment that have diverted my attention away from my blog - 2013 is going to be a very busy year for me.

This is a very sad moment for me.  Diabolus in Cosmetica has been more successful than I ever imagined, in a very short time - I have reached almost 40,000 page views in only three months.  But, I am hopeful that I shall return, bigger and better than ever, sometime later this year.

In the interim, I can still be contacted via Facebook, Twitter and email... please see the Contact | Social Media page for my details.

My blog sale is ongoing I have added some new items in the last week.  I will be adding more items soon.  I will post updates when new items are added both via Blogger and via social media.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me thus far with Diabolus in Cosmetica... your support has been invaluable, and I couldn't have done this without you. Thank you to all of my readers - I promise I will be back!

Wishing you all a wonderful and bright year ahead,

Bern xx

Kohlindo - online retailer of Chikuhodo makeup brushes: webstore information, and interview with co-founder Malin Schweitz

Following on from my introductory blog post on Chikuhodo, I wanted to share with my readers how to get ahold of these amazing hand-made brushes.

Kohlindo is an online retailer of the coveted Chikuhodo makeup brushes, based in Sweden.  They are currently one of only two online retailers that sell and ship Chikuhodo outside of Japan.

Burberry Complete Eye Palette 02 Mocha - review, pictures and swatches

The long awaited Burberry Complete Eye Palettes were released yesterday (November 1).

I visited my local Burberry counter yesterday to have a look at the new palettes, and came home with 02 Mocha.  Unfortunately my SA was away, and the testers were not out yet - I chose Mocha as it contained 'safe' neutrals, in the absence of a tester.

A quick look at the new Burberry Complete Eye Palettes

November 1 is the official release date for the new Burberry Complete Eye Palettes.

First of all, apologies to all my readers - I did have the opportunity to see and photograph these palettes a week ago, but unfortunately I was unable to get to Burberry any sooner than today.

Skin care favourites: Lush BB Seaweed fresh face mask

After a day of blogging adventures the other week, I stopped via Lush and picked up one of my staple skin care items - BB Seaweed fresh face mask.  On my way home, I thought to myself, I love this mask so much I need to tell everyone about it.

Guest Post - The Cotton Experiment

A beautiful friend of mine who resides in sunny California, who is best known in our respective makeup circles by her alias of Roxina, recently conducted The Cotton Experiment.

Roxina posted her findings on a forum that her and I both frequent - her experiment was an absolute hit.

As such, I asked the lovely Roxina to put together a guest post for Diabolus in Cosmetica, to expand on her findings and present a full report.

Roxina delivered.

Giorgio Armani Maestro Foundation - review

The latest foundation release from Giorgio Armani Beauty is Maestro.

Maestro is water and powder free - it is essentially a pigment in oil base, composed of several oils of varying volatility.  The result is a foundation that is supposed to be long wearing and complexion perfecting, whilst being thin and undetectable on the skin.  Maestro is the resultant product of many years of research (eight, I hear), and is being hailed as progressive in the field of foundation chemistry.

Burberry Lip Velvet #311 Bright Poppy - review, pictures and swatches

After purchasing and reviewing Burberry Lip Velvet in #312 Hawthorn Berry earlier this week, I returned to Burberry on Thursday to take better photos of the entire Lip Velvet range, and to purchase #311 Bright Poppy.

Hawthorn Berry and Bright Poppy are the two deepest shades in the Lip Velvet range - they have a similar depth of colour; however Hawthorn Berry is a true deep red, whereas Bright Poppy is a deep magenta plum.

Illamasqua - the follow up visit

On September 14, I wrote about my first visit to my local Illamasqua counter, and about how I was so impressed with the brand that I was going to return for another makeup session (and haul!) the following week.

Well peeps, I went back on September 20 - and yes, I hauled.

Burberry Lip Velvet #312 Hawthorn Berry - review, pictures and swatches

One of the most anticipated Burberry Beauty releases this year are the new Lip Velvet matte lipsticks.  These lipsticks have been the subject of many an online discussion in recent months... and finally, their official release date is approaching.

I was lucky enough to score one of these lipsticks ahead of their October 2012 release.

A basic introduction to Hakuhodo makeup brushes

Hakuhodo makeup brushes have been a hot topic in the makeup realms of the blogosphere and online forums for a while now.  Many questions have been repeatedly asked - what is 'Hakuhodo'?  Where do I get the brushes from?  What is so special about them?  Which ones should I buy?

It is easy to be overwhelmed by Hakuhodo - they have quite a number of brushes across several different series.  Consider that alongside the numerous reviews and pictures online, and one easily ends up dazed and confused.

Illamasqua - my first visit

After posting about Illamasqua's new prices this week, I decided to visit my local Illamasqua counter at Myer, Chadstone.  I booked in to see the counter manager, Janelle, for a makeup session ($50 - redeemable with purchase) on Thursday, September 13.

I have a few Illamasqua products (purchased online), but I had never before taken the time to properly explore and get to know the brand.

So I went and explored.... and Illamasqua did not disappoint.

Illamasqua Australia - Fight For A Fair Beauty Price campaign - price comparative

On the 6th of August 2012, Illamasqua launched their Fair Price for Beauty Campaign here in Australia - the original statement by Julian Kynaston, Founder of Illamasqua, can be seen here.

Illamasqua had many supporters for their campaign, not only here in Australia, but globally.

The campaign was deemed a success on the 30th of August 2012 - Illamasqua amassed over 20,000 signatures on their Fight For A Fair Beauty Price petition, and the official Illamasqua retail partner in Australia, Myer, lowered the RRP of all Illamasqua products on the 1st of September 2012.  Prices were decreased by an average of 35%.

Tutorial: How to depot Burberry eyeshadows

The depotting of Burberry eyeshadows has been a contentious issue since their release... Burberry Beauty fans have been divided on the issue - why should you do it?  Why would you do it?  But more importantly - HOW do I do it?

These eyeshadows are known to have a rather precarious structure, in that one wrong move and you will have sadly damaged your eyeshadow beyond salvation.  The packaging is thick, heavy and robust - with no less than two magnets inside.

But, being an avid depotter, I decided to try it for myself.

I am very happy to announce that my blog, Diabolus in Cosmetica, is now live!

This blog has been a long time in the making.  To those who do not know me, my name is Bernadette, but most people call me Bern.  I am 33 years old, and currently reside in Melbourne, Australia.

I have many ideas for this blog, and will be posting on both makeup and skin care related topics.  I hope to present educational posts and picture tutorials, reviews, swatches and product pictures.

In the meantime, I would love to hear any feedback on what everyone out there would like to see posted here!

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank those who have supported me thus far - the people who have encouraged me to get this blog up and running - I am truly grateful for the support.

And a special thank you also goes out to all the lovely people who purchased items from my blog sale - you are the reason I was finally able to get this blog up and running - the proceeds of my blog sale went towards my new camera.  Thank you, to all of you!!

I plan on utilising social networking applications to support this blog on both Facebook and Twitter.  The Twitter account is live - you can follow Diabolus in Cosmetica here, or use the link in the side bar to your right.  I am in the process of setting up a Facebook page - I shall update accordingly once it is up and running.

My first post is currently in progress and will be uploaded very soon.  I will also be hosting a competition once I reach 100 followers - so stay tuned!!!

But for now - welcome to my blog, Diabolus in Cosmetica!!
